Illuminating Engineering Society

Fundamentals of Lighting is an introductory course developed by the IES and presented and managed, in-person, by the IESNYC Education Committee. The course comprises ten modules, presented over eight evenings.

In a basic and straightforward style, each module provides up-to-date material on lighting concepts, systems, equipment, calculation procedures, and other important design and industry issues. This course is ideal for those who have only a basic knowledge of lighting and for working professionals who want a thorough overview of the field.

  • Tuesday, June 11: Lighting Design Process and Techniques, Sustainability, and Commissioning; plus Economics
  • Tuesday, June 18: Lighting for Interiors
  • Tuesday, June 25: Lighting for Exteriors

His solid skills in lighting design, analysis and visualization, previous training in architecture and industrial design, as well as multilingual background allow him to deliver exceptional, tailored solutions for various project types and locales. Dayuan is the recipient of multiple IES Illumination Awards and a Lumen Award of Merit. He is an active contributor to local design and lighting communities, such as AIA, IES. Dayuan holds a Master of Architecture degree from University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and is a LEED AP BD+C certified professional and Lighting Certified (LC) professional.
